In a new State of the Game stream with community developer Hamish Bode, Ubisoft has at long last revealed that Update 1.4 is finally ready for the public and will launch next week for all platforms on October 25. With the help of fans on the Public Test Server on the PC version of the game, massive overhauls, updates, bug fixes, and changes have been in testing for a solid month, ensuring that not only things have been properly tested, but fan feedback has helped to shaped this update as well.

One of the biggest changes with Update 1.4 is the introduction of World Tiers. This system enables players to globally change the difficulty in their world to better match their gear score and find better loot closer to their level. This new system aims to fix the progression system for players at level 30, and attempt to make the game less frustrating by providing activities that are more level appropriate. In addition, Ubisoft has completely reworked time to kill, improving player health for extra survivability while reducing enemy health to make them less of a bullet sponge especially at higher difficulties.
Also revealed in the latest patch notes is a general update to many traditional game features such as gear sets, which have almost all been overhauled with new stats and bonuses. The Underground expansion also received an update and now grants a higher chance for High End loot drops after taking down elite boss characters.
Shockingly, the patch notes are 21 pages long and features thousands of bug fixes and massive game improvements. Fans looking for a mostly complete list of changes can visit the official Ubisoft forums here.
With update 1.4 now nearing its end, Massive Entertainment is turning its gaze back towards 1.5 which does include the next expansion, Survival. While this expansion did get a trailer at E3 a few months ago, information regarding the next expansion has fallen by the wayside so Ubisoft could focus solely on fixing The Division.
